Tapanti National Park is located in the Orosi valley, and only a few miles from the small town of Orosi. The parks covers 6080 hectacres and altitude ranges from 1,200 to 2,560 meters (3,937 to 8,398 feet). The Orosi river runs through the Tapanti Park, and offers hikers many views of the river and tributary waterfalls.
Rainfall is abundant, with average yearly levels more than 250 inches. The rainy season is May to October.
Tapanti Park is a must visit for birders, with over 260 species of birds recorded in the park, including, quetzals, hawks, hummingbirds, and oropendulas. Over 28 species of amphibians, such as salamanders and frogs have also been recorded.
The easy vehicle access, ranger station, developed hiking trails, and covered picnic areas make the Tapanti Park a comfortable and relaxing day visit.
